The Bottom Line

Há certas músicas que têm o poder de nos fazer visualizar certas situações. Ultimamente tenho andado a ler uns livros onde um dos personagens principais é um daqueles inveterados Românticos do século XIX: Há mais de dez anos que luta pelo amor de uma mulher que só o corresponde quando precisa de um fantoche para manipular a seu próprio proveito. Cada vez que o vê delira, promete casar com ele e depois acaba por fugir com outro (de preferência rico) deixando o desgraçado em profundo sofrimento. E no entanto, ele nunca parece cansar-se de tentar - é inumano, utópico mas suficientemente real. Hoje, ao ouvir esta melodia, veio-me logo à cabeça a situação do pobre homem e dei por mim a pensar que raio é que o motiva a continuar. A resposta só pode ser uma - pura estupidez, suponho! O que é terrível para alguém tão inteligente...
